あらすじ
Victor, a young itinerant Mexican, is wild about the cinema. Thanks to Guy, a French representative of the Lumière brothers, Victor acquires a camera and the necessary skills to film the Mexican revolution of 1910, in which over million people died. "L'Année de la comète" is the story of an an initiatory voyage in the same year that Halley's comet appeared. The start of the revolution and the consolidation of filmmaking in Mexico intersect along this journey toward the United States in one of those ramshackle traveling theaters that criss-crossed the country at the time.

About
I decided to produce this film because the story was so strong. It corresponded to what I wanted to produce, namely a tale of events within a special social context, in this case the event being the invention of the movies and the social context being the political and cultural revolution in Mexico in 1911. Maryse Sistach, a brillant young director, was able to write a script that would appael to the general public, something that is very important in my production decisions. I want my films to be easily accessible. It's true that these days the film mayseem a little old-fashionned, insofar as it is hard to get it to the public without a major media blitz, despite its highly sellable story. The blitz wasn't financially feasible. However, I'm proud to have made the film, and very happy to have co-produced it in Mexico, where I was able to meet real, earnest partners who love movies.
