あらすじ
Meïr and Rivka still love each other passionately after ten years marriage but have had no children. This worries the rabbi of their community in Mea Shearim, Jerusalem's orthodox quarter. Meanwhile, Rivka’s sister Malka is in love with Yaakov, who has chosen to live outside the community, which is frowned upon. The rabbi intervenes, declaring that Malka must marry his own faithful assistant, Youssef, and that Meïr must divorce Rivka and marry Haya to insure his descent. Rivka moves out. Still in love with Meïr, she retreats inside herself. Malka finds another way out: rebellion.

About
A fundamental contradiction monotheist religions have in common is the role they allot to women. They must submit above all, to religious power exercised by men, to its rituals. I wanted to oppose this with strong female characters, women who question the legitimacy of decisions made by men carrying out religious commands. I tried to use my feminine side to portray two women, sisters, living in a quarter closed in on itself. I wanted to show their need for love, their compassion for each other and the limits their community imposes on such emotions.
