About
Strange Crime by Roberto Ando (Le Prix du désir, France/Italy/Germany/Switzerland, 2004, 105 min.). A psychological drama that pits passion against fidelity, Strange Crime is the story of Daniel Boltanski (Daniel Auteuil), a famous author. He lives with his beautiful wife, Nicoletta (Greta Scacchi), an Italian lawyer whose son Fabrizio, from another marriage, is to be married in Capri. On the boat taking him to the wedding, Daniel spends a passionate night with a young woman, Mila (Anna Mouglalis), who turns out to be his stepson’s bride-to-be. She becomes his obsession, and Daniel begins to lead a double life, troubled by the existence of a blackmailer who threatens to expose his relationship, along with others that date back more than 20 years, to when he was in Poland.
