あらすじ
Victor Lasnier (Peter Ustinov) writes and makes films. His talent has made him famous and he lives with the charming Corinne (Bernadette Lafont). However, Victor is not an entirely happy man: his stoutness – he weighs 120 kilos – worries him. What’s more, Corinne and even his producer don’t hesitate to warn him about the high blood pressure and the heart attack that are waiting in the wings. He therefore decides to lose weight. So begins for him the discovery of a massive industry as devoted to relieving him of his money as of his obesity. All kinds of machines, special fabric underwear, slimming soaps and creams, and low-calorie drinks are prescribed by a fleet of specialists, doctors, dieticians and biotherapists whose fees are as substantial as their clients’ paunches. Despite all this advice and the miraculous remedies, the filmmaker doesn’t lose a pound. Instead, he becomes irritable and anxiety-ridden.
