How to define Japan? What is a racial consciousness and how do we define our ethnic identity as individuals? We become aware of our identity only by the experience of the difference. How can we define who belongs and who does not belong to a nation? Are people competent to identify racially the other people or it is something that we define by ourselves? Laughter is part of the Japanese identity.
