洪水に見舞われた町からなんとかパリにたどり着こうと悪戦苦闘する女の子の姿を、サイレント喜劇タッチで描いた短編。サイレント期の監督マック・セネットに捧げられている。前年に映画製作プロダクション・レ・フィルム・キャロッスを設立したフランソワ・トリュフォーが即興的にキャメラを回した未完のフィルムをジャン・リュック・ゴダールが編集、ゴダールの提案で2人の共同監督作品(唯一の)として発表したもの。製作はピエール・ブロンベルジェ、撮影はミシェル・ラトゥーシュが担当。主演はカロリーヌ・ディムと、ゴダールの「女は女である」などにも出演したジャン・クロード・ブリアリ。日本公開に当たり、短編オムニバス企画「水の話 プチ・シネマ・バザール」(全5編)の1編として上映された。

🦋 'Butterfly' won the Crystal Bear Young People's Jury at the Berlinale and was selected for the Official Competition at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, where it received the André Martin Prize.
