あらすじ
Winnipeg, it is the name of the boat of hope that the poet Pablo Neruda and the Spanish governor in exile chartered to repatriate the last refugees of the Spanish Civil War. In 1939, boat begins the united crossing, taking the antifascist fighters with women and children towards Chile, where they will land after an epic of more than fifteen thousand kilometers in the port of Valparaiso. Welcomed like heros, most will stay there and will bring their know-how to this country by keeping in their heart the republican Spain. The sailors, for the greater part communist activists, will be declared mutineers at their return and imprisoned in Bordeaux.

Sixteen-year-old Diane exists exclusively through her mother's gaze. But this intensely close bond between Diane and her mother, Sophie, is becoming increasingly problematic for the teenager. At high school, she would like to be loved like she is at home and expresses it in an awkward way like when she exchanges a favor for a look, in the toilets. A loudmouth, provocative, and seeking attention, Diane tries to stand apart from her mother and wishes, during a weekend, to live like an adult.
