あらすじ

A dozen variety artists, managed by Jean Duroc, have been engaged for a provincial tour but are getting only poor receipts at the box-office. During a boating excursion, Monique Darzzl, who recites, and singer Pierjan come across an angler who bears an uncannily close resemblance to Fernand Raynaud. Duroc, whom they tell about their discovery, has an idea which borders on genius. He makes himself known to the double, a certain Mr. Gaspard, a civil servant spending his holidays in a small local boarding-house, and is so successful in arousing his sympathy over the fate of the company that in the end, Mr. Gaspard agrees to lend his presence to the stage for a few days. He is advertised as "Fernand Raynaud", which is certain to send the box-office receipts soaring ! The members of the company give various pieces of advice to the amateur star and that same evening, dressed up as Fernand Raynaud, he appears on the stage. He gives such a good perfomance that the audience gives him a triumph...
