Isaac Asimov was not only one of the founding fathers of science fiction, he also devoted the second half of his life to compiling the vast field of human knowledge, which he saw as the key to saving our species. Thanks to his sheer working power, his wide range of interests, and his ability to explain complex issues to laypeople, he was a true cognitive force of nature.
