“Facing our existential void while dancing.” That's how Hervé Salters, who composes and arranges General Elektriks' albums on his own before joining his musicians on stage, defines his seventh opus, Party Like a Human, “a balancing act between popular music and experimentation,” released in September 2021. Between vintage sounds and music of the future, questions about our troubled times—from the climate crisis to rampant capitalism and our inflated egos—and a surge of groovy energy, this album, conceived in Berlin, the Parisian artist's adopted city for almost ten years, gives pride of place to funk synths and hip-hop beats.
