あらすじ
As a young Moroccan filmmaker and former alpine ski champion, I embark on a personal journey of discovery when I stumble upon old VHS tapes in my father Aziz’s library. On the tapes, I see myself at the age of three, strapping on my first pair of skis in a snow-capped pasture in the High Atlas Mountains, just 70 km from my hometown of Marrakech. Carried away by these childhood memories, I return to the mountains: no snow covers the peaks, the ski lifts hang abandoned, creaking in the wind like stage props in a vast landscape. In my quest, I discover that the ski resort where I learned to ski is in fact a pasture where shepherds from nearby villages bring their flocks to graze in summer. I ask myself: How could a ski resort have emerged in a place where skiing once seemed unimaginable? Along the way, I reconnect with characters who shaped my childhood and adolescence. Fadma, the only female café owner in the village, shares the history of the land through stories passed down across generations. I also meet Outalat, caretaker of the Royal Moroccan Ski Federation chalet and shepherd in summer, who recalls the colonial origins of the resort, created in the 1930s at the request of a French marshal. And I meet Abdessamad, a childhood friend now forced to switch from alpine skiing to roller skiing due to the lack of snow, a symbol of the transformations endured by this land and its people.
