"The first time we met, her singularity was what I liked about her : her more than average height, her direct, slightly haughty stare, the proud face, her breasts below her frail shoulders, her skin-tone... Then, at one point, all that scared me... Perhaps it was too much for the character of a working-class girl, too much charm, too much grace, too much perfection ! Then we worked and worked and worked some more. And that's when I discovered her generosity, humanity, wounds, the necessary humility, strength of will, fears and the humour used to dispel them...
