"This film is the result of eight years of friendship.(...) We worked in total synergie. The combination of a novice director with an established actress does not always make fireworks. (...) On the first day, Agustin gave us the master key which opened every door. About Gloria's quest for dignity in the film, all I had to grasp was the obvious truth (...) that poor people are not junkies or delinquents but princes who have to reconquer their kingdoms. (...) I haven't forgotten where I came from. I've been poor for half my life and rich for other half. (...) Being poor is violent in every sense : mental, physical and financial. Agustin says he wouldn't have made the film without me but neither would I ! When a director is in a state of grace you have to stick close to him."
