She is Tonka, a natural, pure animal speed and grace, a perfect blend of the present moment and the age-old mysteries of India. A Chanel 19 perfumed vagabond, she lives near the runways of Charles de Gaulle Airport in an Ivory Tower she's kitted out for herself inside a giant soft-drink advertising can. For ten years he's epitomised technique, effort, the top-class athlete's ceaseless striving to win. Yet now, he's injured. He no longer knows why he pounds the red running tracks.
