A little eight-year-old girl makes her way through Nazi Europe in search of her parents. Her name is Misha. She is Jewish. Her father and mother have just been sent to a concentration camp. She knows only one thing: they're somewhere in the East. Using a simple compass, she leaves her native Belgium and heads for the Ukraine by foot, crossing through Germany and Poland, in the hope finding her parents. To survive, she steals food and clothing. To survive, she avoids men and their violence. To survive, she joins a pack of wolves - and becomes one of them. Based on the autobiographical tale by Misha Defonseca, the film is a moving reflection on the cruelty of man and the humanity of animals.
