After its third weekend on German screens, Brotherhood of the Wolf by Christophe Gans has tallied 630,000 admissions. In Austria, where the film was released at the same time, moviegoers have also been charmed by the adventures of the trackers of the Beast of Gevaudan.
Released on 320 screens in Germany and 23 screens in Austria, this represents large-scale national distribution for the film. Coproducer and international sales agents, StudioCanal, have thus a major success on their hands after a triumphant release in Russia (450,000 spectators,) Spain (650,000,) Italy (900,000) as well as the United States (1,500,000.) Added to this is the impressive media coverage received by a French film, and a very positive response from the local press:
"A terrific cloak and dagger epic," highlights Bild.
"Fascinating and dark, majestic and erotic. A testimonial to the purity of images that create nothing but pure fantasy within opulence," proclaims Die Welt.
"An amazing adventure film," affirms TV Today.
