Los Angeles film critics have honored two French films with awards: "The Man on the Train" by Patrice Leconte and "The Triplets of Belleville" by Sylvain Chomet.
At its annual gala reception held January 26, 2004, the Los Angeles Film Critics' Association (LAFCA) gave its award for Best Foreign Language Film to Patrice Leconte for his film "The Man on the Train." Distributed by Paramount Classics, this film has also achieved a standout performance at the US box office, currently credited with $2.5 million.
In the wake of its New York Critic's award, "The Triplets of Belleville" by Sylvain Chomet has now picked up the Los Angeles awards for Best Animated Film and Best Music. This film has also been warmly welcomed by audiences in the United States, with a running total at the box office already standing at $1.8 million.
