あらすじ

Eighteen-year-old Philippe Le Clerc lives in Paris but his heart belongs to America. The star of his high school soccer team, Philippe worships the writing of William Faulkner and wants nothing more than to walk among the cottonwood trees of the South. His dream comes true when he's awarded a scholarship to Washington and Lee University in Virginia. When he arrives at the university, he unwittingly agrees to tryout for the respect and friendship of the team's star quarterback, Cal Cate. Then Philippe sets eyes on April, the beautiful black housekeeper of one of his professors. But April isn't just a cleaning woman - she's earning money to return to a university in Maryland to finish her degree. April is drawn to Philippe's gentle nature even though she knows how dangerous a black-white romance could be. Still, she agrees to meet Philippe.
