About
"This film marks a return to form to Pedro Almodovar. It contains a hidden autobiographical dimension, as in "The Law of Desire", nostalgia for the countryside, far from the loneliness and distress of the city, the underlying theme of "What Have I Done to Deserve This ?", and the capacity to create different facets of reality, as in "Tie Me Up ! Tie Me Down !". All this without forsaking the female comedy trademark that is carried off to perfection here by the magnificent Chus Lampreave and the unclassifiable Rossy de Palma. But "The Flower of My Secret" would be nothing without Marisa Paredes. The almost perfect identification that Almodovar had with Carmen Mora (...) has turned into total harmony with Marisa Paredes. Unlike Carmen, Marisa isn't Pedro's puppet but his defiant equal and it's this encounter that makes the film so perfect."
