パトリス・ルコントの大喝采
あらすじ
エディ・カルパンティエ(ジャン・ロシュフォール)は端役専門役者、ヴィクトール・ヴィアラ(フィリップ・ノワレ)は引退した大根役者だが、復帰の チャンスを狙っている。二人は興行師シャピロン(ミシェル・ブラン)が喜劇『スクビドゥー』の出演者を探していると聞きつけ、旧友ジョルジュ・コックス (ジャン=ピエール・マリエル)を引き込んで三人セットで売り込む。シャピロンは借金に追われ、この巡業を中止させてその保険で高飛びしようと企んでい た。彼はまず主演のカルラ・ミロを陰謀に引き込もうとするが、けんもほろろ。さて、大根老優三人組はあまりの下手さにカルラが激怒。クビになりかけるが、 職を守ったばかりか、コックスはドサクサに紛れてギャラの増額まで取り付ける。エディはカルラに猛烈にアタックし、ついにねんごろになる。シャピロンはカ ルラを狙って怪我をさせるが、彼女は松葉杖姿になっても舞台に立つ。コックスはそんな彼女の怪我した姿を利用して客席から募金を集め、これが大ウケ。シャ ピロンは舞台でカルラを狙撃しようとする。ヴィクトールはそれに気づき、ギリギリで舞台に駆け込んで彼女を守り、舞台に乱入したシャピロンを三人組は取り 押さえた。この一件で大根三人組は一躍人気者に。『スクビドゥーと三人のエース』と改題された舞台は、ブロードウェイ公演まで実現してしまうのだった。

"For many years, I had wanted to make a film about actors because they simply fascinate me . But since I couldn’t imagine setting such a story in the film and since I love the theatre, I’ve made a film set in the theatrical world, and more precisely during a theatrical tour. And then there was another desire : that of making a pure, unadulterated comedy, even if the tone needed to be concealed by a pathetic and disenchanted world. This kind of cohabitation has always inspired me. Finally, there was the desire to bring together three astounding actors, friends for 40 years, who had never really appeared together on the big screen before : Jean Rochefort, Jean-Pierre Marielle, and Philippe Noiret. The joy of acting together, of trying to surprise each other, of surprising themselves, their complicity and their madness were my daily bread for eight weeks. And if the film appears to be improvised, that is simply because the stars are exceptionnal actors, capable of anything. Should one have any other motivation when one makes films than that of wanting to make people happy ? I can’t imagine any other. " The Grand Tour " is, in its own way, a film born of sheer pleasure."
