あらすじ
Joanna and Samuel met fifteen years ago and now form the ideal, durable couple... One morning, Joanna helps out her janitor, a woman who has been beaten by her husband. She has a broken arm and is unable to write her farewell letter to the loutish brute. After several rough drafts, Joanna finds the harsh phrases and cutting words she needs. She then packs her bags and flies off to shoot a report in Mali, leaving one of the rough drafts on the table...

About
"As a screenwriter, your work comes to an end on the day you hand over the final draft. Afterwards, the film is out of your control, the shooting starts and even though you may feel like changing a scene, there's not a thing you can do. I personally believe in an evoluting screenplay, so I felt dissatisfied. That's the reason why I founded my own production company and started directing. Nowadays, if anyone asks me for the original screenplay of one of my films, I tell them to copy the editing, because I keep changing things up to the last minute. Box-office hits and flops require the same energy, time and money. Then the audience decides. I've had hits and flops. Success make me happy for forty-eight hours, failure can hurt me for a week. Afterwards, I couldn't care less. That's why I carry on. The only thing that matters is the sheer pleasure of it all. "My Wife is Leaving Me" was a particularly happy shooting experience. I can't conceive of this job in any other way.
