あらすじ
Life looks sweet for Antoine Rivière. As psychoanalyst with a well-established private practice, he lives confortably off his fees and his publications are steadily enhancing his reputation. All would be perfect if he had not made two mistakes. The first was to accept Edouard Berg as a patient. The second was to keep him. So, when Berg claims to have killed his wife, Antoine Rivière can't tell whether he's dealing with a compulsive liar or a murderer. How could he possibly know that it's already too late to react, the trap has sprung shut on him?

"When I first talk to Daniel Auteuil, he said he felt uneasy. Credible though he felt as a violin-maker, a cop or a family doctor, he couldn't see himself playing the part of a psychoanalyst. I thought to myself that for everyone's good, we had to unlock this mental barrier. So I gave him this key : "Maybe the audience won't realize it, but the psychoanalyst you have to play has a secret. He hasn't finished his own analysis." Auteuil instantly calmed down, no doubt because he'd realized the flaw in the character. And his performace was every bit as great as his initial nervousness !"
