About
The film is drawn from memories: of events, stories, but also of feelings,
moods. It enables me to speak about them a little bit, although it's
impossible to really describe what it's like to be a teenager. I've wanted
to tell the tale of this gang of four girls for years, even before I made
"Forget Me." But, until meeting Florence Syvos, who stuck with the film
from the beginning to the end, the desire was vague and confused. I was
afraid of being superficial, having an adult view of adolescence. Before
starting the script with Florence, I asked a friend to do separate
interviews with me and my three childhood friends. We all said how our
getting together had changed our lives. It was something we'd never dared
admit to each other because it was too sentimental for a gang of tough guys
like us to say¡Æ That's the feeling which counted in the film, knowing that
my friendship with these three girls had changed me.
