あらすじ
Mathieu, 18, is on vacation at a beach resort with his mother and sister. With them is a woman, Annick, who does the chores and attends to Mathieu’s mother, still traumatized by the death of her youngest child. On the beach Mathieu meets Cedric, a boy his own age. It is the beginning of what seems like a holiday friendship, but as the days go by with their small quarrels, embraces, carefree moments and irritations, affection grows and becomes intense.

About
The birth and development of a couple was not the subject of this film. I didn’t want to recount the history of an affair with all the psychology that supposes. I just wanted to focus on a person at a point when his life is still under construction, and follow him for a while. Mathieu is going through an unstable period: he has to get free of his family and leave adolescence behind even as he discovers his homosexuality and romantic inclinations. All of that comes together, unbalancing him, especially since he comes from a troubled family – an absent father, a depressive mother, a dead brother. He has his own strong propensity to melancholy and depression. My work essentially focuses on the idea of a portrait, taking an individual and attempting to visually map his private landscape, what you might call his innermost space. The fragmented narrative of the film, constantly mingling past and present, allowed me to approach that.
