You’ve dreamt about it — they’re actually doing it! They’re spending a week-long vacation on a faraway island where coconuts grow on trees, the water is turquoise blue and sunshine is guaranteed twelve months a year. All that, plus a luxurious hotel on the edge of the sea. Obviously, such a fling requires financial sacrifice, because our heroes are anything but millionaires. They include Laurette, 35, a woman with neither man nor kids but with a serious desire to remedy that situation. By coming here she hopes to find Mr. Right or, failing that, a man who can at least end her solitude. Anita and Pauline, meanwhile, are a “modern, non-straight” couple. Anita is pregnant (by artificial insemination) and Pauline pampers to her every need, especially since Anita can be temperamental. Rafik and Aziz, brothers of pure North African stock, are straight from the suburban ghetto outside Paris. Aziz is a cleaner in a company whose boss, having had to cancel his own trip for highly personal reasons, suddenly offered Aziz a pair of plane tickets plus hotel. Philippe, accompanied by wife and children, has come here for a little breather — except that his mistress, Camille, has decided to show up, just to ruin his vacation a little. And back at the hotel, a team of activity-leaders is supposed to enliven our heroes’ stay.
