あらすじ
Nuremberg, November 20, 1945. In a city still in a state of ruin, barely six months after German capitulation, the Nazi war crime trials begin. The United States, France, Great Britain, and the USSR have joined together to carry out justice in response to the crimes against peace and, for the first time in history, to the “crimes against humanity” committed by the Nazis. In the dock, twenty-one of the highest Nazi dignitaries, among whom Hermann Göring, Rudolph Hess, Joachim von Ribbentrop, and Wilhelm Keitel. All plead not guilty. The atrocities that have been committed are immense. Films shot during the liberation of the camps will be shown during the trial – a procedure that has never taken place before in a courtroom. Exhibits, confrontations, testimony from executioners and victims follow one after the other. After six months of hearings, the verdict is returned: 12 death sentences, of which one in absentia, 7 prison sentences, and 3 acquittals. So closes the trial that opened the way to the creation of international justice.
For the first time, a documentary recounts, from the interior of a courtroom, the unfolding of the Nuremburg trials.
