February 1944. Taking refuge in the Abbey of Saint-Benoît-sur-Loire, the poet Max Jacob leads an almost monastic life. One day, the Gestapo enters the convent and arrests him. A few days later, he is taken to the Drancy internment camp. Thousands of prisoners are waiting there to be deported to Germany. A long-time friend of Pablo Picasso and a former resident of the Bateau-Lavoir, Max Jacob was connected to the leading figures of Paris at the time: Jean Cocteau, Jean Marais, Sacha Guitry... But all these artists were slow to take action. A young woman, Alice, whom the poet had taken under his wing when she was a child, would attempt the impossible to save him...
