"Some of the most difficult sequences to shoot were those inside the dam. After a two-hour drive, there we were, ready to descend 100 metres below ground. The outside temperature was almost 40°. Inside, it was only 8° and the water was at 5°. We were shivering. There were some compensations. The dam workers had enthusiastically built the docks and sluices I needed. They even asked us what level of water we wanted. And what water! I thought it would be pure but it was filthy and stank. We reeked horribly.
