あらすじ
フランス北部、バイユール。父を亡くし母親と二人で暮らす青年フレディ。職もなく、恋人マリーと愛し合い、同じように職のない仲間たちとバイクで街を飛ばす毎日を送っていた。癇癪持ちの彼は時おり自分を持て余し、その一方で仲間思いの優しい面もあった。だが、マリーに想いを寄せるアラブ人青年カデールが現れて、フレディの心は揺らぎ、差別と暴力という形でカデールに向かってゆく。そして、取り返しのつかない悲劇が起こる……。

About
While writing the story of La Vie de Jésus, I realized that I was tackling ambiguous characters and an unusual plot. I was particularly aware of this because it was what I wanted. It's the substance of the film. I was examining the folds of human nature, the pleats... It was a matter of love and hatred. Of their power. I knew that I was aiming to film the interior. The inside. In the guts. And that I would have to paint the earth. The earth and the trees. The colours of the plain. People's lives. Their faces. Their body parts. That because of this humility - because of its perseverance and that of time - there would be an overspill. (Bruno Dumont)
