あらすじ
Arthur teaches history in Paris. He has lived alone since leaving Claire, who had a little girl by another man. The moderately eccentric behavior of a neighbor across the landing reveals Arthur to be a fragile individual who lacks confidence and worries about everything. So when he decides to go to Lisbon to see the eminent historian who inspired his dissertation, he sees Claire again and asks her to come along. She becomes an almost ideal partner for this trip, providing a second chance for a couple that has not shared all it could.

About
"Jean-Claude Biette gives the impression of having just discovered film-making that very morning. I don't mean simple naiveté. It was amazing to find someone who is so virginal every morning, who never has professional reactions to things. In dealing with his innocence, I went from annoyed doubt to a state of pure bliss. It was a pretty unsettling experience because even though I always claim I'm not an actor, I realized I had standard professional reactions that I had to drop. It was incredible. This kind of movie contains everything I love—a lightness, an impression you're talking about nothing yet broaching true philosophy, without knowing how. It's playful and touching at the same time."
