About
"... I don't think anyone has never filmed the power and complexity of the slender, ambiguous bond between mother and daughter with such accuracy and sensitivity. Scenes of daily life, gestures and looks, shot with an almost minimalist sobriety, sum up everything that is left unsaid... "I film what takes place between the looks," says Emmanuelle Cuau. Indeed, there are very few words, just enough to reveal the gaps in a life... In this beautiful, sedate film, the faces and bodies do the talking... There's no judgement or condemnation of the mother or daughter. Simply two beings influenced by a cruel and necessary fact of life : in a certain manner, mothers have to "die" so that their daughters may live... I love the limpid strength of "Circuit Carole", Emmanuelle Cuau's honest and tender record of an everyday rift."
(Annie Ernaux - writer)
